What else can be said about the elusive Minigun? Hailing from Oregon, USA, under the leadship of Al Minigun and acompanied on drums by his brother Jaimie they've been causing trouble in the backwater hellhole known as The Dalles and other surrounding areas since 2011. Growing up on a steady dose of punk rock, driving around listening to Dead Kennedys and Morris-era Black Flag cassettes thanks to their rocker dad, by time Al hit puberty he figured it was time to start a band. Unable to find a drummer, he enlisted in his then straight edge metal-obsessed brother Jaimie to handle drum duties. He also doubled as the band's security as, despite being only 12 years old, he had already grown to about 7 feet tall. Armed with a vintage Kramer guitar, that Keith Morris himself once told Al was a "sweet axe, man", and a beastly drummer who towered over even the biggest, meanest skinheads, Minigun were ready to go! The original 4 piece lineup were notorious for their drug-use with former rhythm guitarist Ryan having a heavy speed addiction and Al's penchant for psychedelics. It was any wonder they were ever to play through an entire set. Talk about giving the Replacements a run for their money! During the 3 years of this line up, they were able to record a demo tape which Al himself describes as "one of the worst things ever recorded." The sessions were filled with termoil due to the frantic outbursts of Ryan whenever he ran out of speed and the constantly interruption of the local hobos complaining about the noise. The cassette had a limited release and, feeling embarrassed by the final result while wanting to get off of psychedelics, Al went out to the forst and destroyed every copy along with his last batch of acid. It's been lost ever since. This was symbolic perhaps as shortly after this lineup fizzled out around spring 2014, with one member going off to college and another dropping off the grid completely, due to being suspected of running a massive underground coke and pornography ring, leaving just the duo of Al and Jaimie to pick up the pieces. The next 3 years were tough for Minigun, being forced to busk on street corners and play in diner bathrooms after being blacklisted by every venue in the city (banned in Oregon, much?). After discovering Husker Du and R.E.M. and wanting to reinvent himself, Al had had enough and decided to revamp Minigun.
